All that glitters… and this raw chocolate totally does! The salt in this recipe gives the chocolate a beautiful dark glittery density, and the cacao nibs provide a crunchy texture – but if salted sweets aren’t your thing, try some of the alternatives listed below the recipe.

Healing Ingredients:

Cacao: high in magnesium, an important nutrient for anyone on a vegan diet, cacao is also a good source of antioxidants.

Himalayan salt: used for a whole range of healing purposes, from energetics to nutrition, himalayan sea salt holds over 84 minerals and trace elements including calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron, closely mirroring the elemental makeup of the human body.

Ingredients: 

1 cup cacao butter

2 tablespoons coconut oil

4 tablespoons agave

1 teaspoon vanilla beans or vanilla bean powder

1/2 teaspoon himalayan sea salt (add more to taste)

3/4 cup cacao powder

1/2 cup cacao nibs

Method:

Grate the cacao butter if solid, and place in a medium sized bowl

Fill a larger bowl with hot water and place the medium bowl inside

Massage the cacao butter until softened (if you have long nails, this can be done with a wooden spoon)

Add the coconut oil and agave and stir the mixture until all has melted and combined

Add the remaining ingredients and stir until combined.

You may like to massage the entire mixture to ensure that there are no clumps of cacao powder or salt.

Pour the mixture into chocolate moulds and place in the fridge for 1 hour to set.

Alternative Combinations:

Omit the cacao nibs and salt and add:

1/2 cup goji berries (soaked overnight in fresh orange juice) and a dash of sweet orange oil

1/4 cup freshly pulverised coconut meat & 1/4 cup crushed hazelnuts

1/4 teaspoon cardamom, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon crushed cloves for a chai flavour
